Photographs you will still want on the wall in thirty years
I photograph weddings across the country and further when you will have me. The work is unhurried and mostly unnoticed: I would rather catch your aunt laughing than ask her to.

In safe hands
You do not have to be good at this
Almost nobody is comfortable being photographed, and nobody needs to be. Here is what that means in practice.
- You will get a plan for the day, written with your planner or with me, so nobody is guessing about timings.
- Group photographs are a short list agreed beforehand, done quickly, and then finished.
- The couple portraits take twenty minutes and mostly involve walking and talking.
Behind the lens
I am Elena
Twelve years and something over two hundred weddings. I started out photographing kitchens for restaurants, which taught me to work quickly in a room full of people who have a job to do.
I live with my husband and a badly behaved lurcher, and I will happily drive four hours for a wedding in a field.

How the day goes
Three parts, and none of them are stressful
Morning
I arrive while everyone is still getting ready. Dresses, letters, your mother doing your hair badly on purpose. Nothing is set up.
The ceremony
Quiet lenses, no flash, and I stay out of the aisle. What I am watching is not you — it is the front row watching you.
Afterwards
Twenty minutes of portraits somewhere with good light, then back to your own party. I stay through the first dances.
Galleries
We had said we did not want a photographer following us around. Then we did not notice her all day, and got back four hundred pictures of our own wedding.
