Getting ready upstairs, the ceremony in the front room, dinner in the walled garden, dancing in the hall. Nobody put a coat on all day.

Small rooms make you work close
A Georgian front room with two sash windows is about as good as light gets, and about as little space as you can work in. You cannot step back, so you stop trying and shoot from inside the group instead. Close is usually where the good frames are anyway.

The garden held one table for thirty-eight. By eleven the neighbours had been invited in, which I gather was always the plan.
