Forty people flew to a farmhouse outside Ostuni for three days. The wedding was the middle one and by then everybody knew everybody, which changes the photographs more than any other single thing.
Start at five
We began the ceremony at five o’clock, which was the best decision anyone made all year. A three o’clock ceremony in southern Italy in July means everyone squinting and nobody comfortable. Five means shade, a breeze, and light that is already turning.

The walk from the courtyard to the olive grove takes about ninety seconds and produced roughly a third of this gallery. If you are marrying abroad, find your ninety seconds and protect it.

The long lunch
Six courses under fig trees, finishing somewhere after ten. Nobody made a speech from a lectern; three people stood up where they were sitting.
